  • Author: Alex Morgan

Ingredients

  • Malibu Rum (1 1/2 oz.): Adds a smooth, coconut flavor that pairs perfectly with the tropical theme.
  • Blue Curacao (1 oz.): Provides the vibrant blue color that represents the ocean.
  • Pineapple Juice (1.5 oz.): Offers a sweet, fruity base that complements the rum and curacao.
  • Sprite (2 oz.): Adds a fizzy component, enhancing the drink’s refreshing quality.
  • Grenadine (1/4 oz.): Creates the signature ‘shark bite’ effect, mimicking blood in the water.
  • Lime Juice (1/2 oz.): A splash of lime balances the sweetness with a tart edge.
  • Cherry for garnish: Adds a final touch of color and decoration.

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and have them ready. This includes chilling the Sprite and pineapple juice beforehand for a refreshing taste.
  2. Mix the Liquors and Juice: In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine 1 1/2 oz. Malibu Rum, 1 oz. Blue Curacao, and 1.5 oz. pineapple juice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds to ensure everything is well mixed.
  3. Add Sprite and Lime Juice: Pour the mixture into a glass over ice, then gently stir in 2 oz. Sprite and 1/2 oz. lime juice to maintain the fizzy quality.
  4. Create the “Shark Bite” Effect: Slowly pour 1/4 oz. grenadine into the drink. It should sink and then slowly rise to create the look of blood diffusing through water.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Add a cherry on top for garnish and serve immediately to enjoy the visual spectacle along with the refreshing taste.
