Orange Dreamsicle Moonshine: A Taste of Summer in a Mason Jar

  • Author: Alex Morgan

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 gallon (3.8 liters) orange juice (freshly squeezed or good quality store-bought)
  • 1 ½ cups (350 ml) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (120 ml) pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120 ml) French vanilla creamer (powdered or liquid)
  • 3 cups (710 ml) vodka or grain alcohol (190 proof)
  • Mason jars with lids (for storage)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Orange Mixture: In a large pot, combine the orange juice, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not bring to a boil.

  2. Incorporate the Vanilla Creaminess: Once the sugar dissolves, remove the pot from heat and stir in the vanilla creamer. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

  3. Moonshine Magic: In a separate large container, combine the cooled orange mixture with the alcohol. Stir gently to combine.

  4. Mason Jar Magic: Strain the mixture into sterilized mason jars, ensuring there’s minimal headspace at the top. Seal the jars tightly with lids.

  5. Let the Flavors Mingle: Store the moonshine in a cool, dark place for at least 24 hours, ideally longer (up to a week) to allow the flavors to meld and mature. The longer it sits, the more the flavors will harmonize.
