Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or your favorite homemade recipe)
For the Filling:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1: Prepare the Crust
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
- Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges, then crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork to prevent bubbling while baking.
2: Mix the Batter
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. This step helps incorporate air into the batter for a lighter texture.
- Stir in the vanilla extract for a boost of flavor.
3: Combine the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Sifting ensures there are no lumps and results in a smoother batter.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.
4: Add the Chocolate Chips
Stir in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter. These will melt slightly during baking, creating pockets of gooey chocolate goodness.
5: Assemble the Pie
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
6: Bake the Pie
- Place the pie on the middle rack of the preheated oven.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly jiggly. This slight jiggle ensures the pie stays fudgy as it cools.
- Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack.
